Against the dark background, the lateral light plays on the skin of the two women. The limited palette, red, black and white, and the neutral brown of the foreground enhance the skin tones of the figures. The subject here is the eye contact between two women, an exchange that alludes to a closeness which can be interpreted by the viewer
