He comes from the sea as they say in Italy. Marcello grew up in Rome and the coastal towns around Naples and has painted many seascapes. But it was a ride in a glass-bottomed boat which inspired him to paint the undersea world. Using images from books and real shells for reference Marcello explored new effects such as the flickering light crossing the backs of dolphins while also keeping his propensity to add unexpected details such as the Dome and cooked mussels (one of his favorite foods.)
