Drawn from life, this was intended to be an underpainting for a more detailed, layered, full color rendering. But I liked the softness, especially the small terrace in the foreground. So I left it as it was and kept it for myself. I still have many of these cityscapes because I wasn’t ready to sell them. But it’s time to make room for new work. Once, the artist Alex Hillkurtz came and painted this view with me. It might be interesting to compare his vivid watercolor with this muted oil drawing.
