The roof tile series began when I lived near Siena working on landscapes in plein air. The focus here is on the velvety green-grey lichens and the characteristic orange ones found in this particular area. The type and color of lichens change according to region because of the components of the earth used and the differing atmospheric conditions. A fragment cut from a much larger painting, it will be shipped loose, without the frame shown here.
